We are delighted to have been involved in this project which we feel serves as a true example of innovation in action and how we can adopt a new approach to infrastructure design.
New legislation and guidance aimed at encouraging more environmentally friendly modes of transport in our towns and cities has brought many challenges for designers. When you also consider the new directives and targets set by governments around the world to reduce environmental impact in how we construct, then it becomes even more challenging.
It is our view that all parties involved in this project have shown a commitment to change and more importantly demonstrated that commitment in action. From initial design (WSP-Skanska-Cambridgeshire CC) through to construction (J Breheny Contractors) these new challenges have been tackled head on.
Our role involved a considerable investment in new products, tooling and bespoke design to produce a low carbon and sustainable drainage solution. We have supplied over 1.5km of Duradrain in varied profiles allowing safe and efficient drainage along both traffic and low profile cycle lanes with varied transitions. This has been delivered to site by Hauraton UK, our stockists based in Dunstable, all of which has been supplied over the period of restrictions or in complete lockdown.
Our bespoke solution is now something we can adopt as a new and standard system within our range, for more details please contact us.
