1,100 units installed, equivalent to 200,200 plastic bottles, caps and closures.

Greener-Safer-Simpler-Better

Installed in sections in 2017 and early 2018, Durakerb has been used along the kerb lines which transition through areas with variable function and risk. Highway environments like this are generally the toughest due to the volumes of traffic and frequency of accidental impact.

Durakerb units are designed to blend with the traditional. They are designed to match the performance and aesthetic of standard kerbs therefore it is not evident to users that within this project, a considerable quantity of recycled and recyclable plastic material is fixed within the kerb-line, ready for future reclaim and re-use.

The alignment and spacers mean the unit’s face to face contact is free of damage. The range of fittings now available allow install through pedestrian and vehicle crossings and most highway design features and structures.

The most demanding of sections are generally at over-runs, external corners and at the main junctions and roundabouts. This project has a number of external corners and exposed junctions where impact is frequent and at speed.

Durakerb will allow you to increase your productivity by as much as 300%. In that however, there is a challenge, as it is then crucial to ensure you exploit the time saved to take full advantage of the cost savings and efficiency that increased productivity will bring.

Well planned construction and maintenance is widely accepted to be much more cost effective, than unplanned. Therefore designing-in the use of Durakerb for a project will allow other processes to follow more quickly and efficiently.

Across this project, all types of Durakerb have been used in varied heights from 0,6 &25mm b/nose upstands to 75/100 and 125mmm full height half, and full batter profiles. Sections of full batter Durakerb have been installed at the entrance ramps on to the A19 where the risk and speed of impact is greatest.

Durakerb has been BBA/HAPAS approved since 2008 where over 400,000 units have been successfully installed in highway networks across the UK and Ireland.

Durakerb allows a lightweight and simple solution for kerb-side reinstatements;

Quick and simple installation for large projects and new builds considerably reduces working time in live traffic situations.
